Lovable vs Bolt vs v0 (2026)
Three of the most popular ways to build an app by chatting with AI, compared on what they cost, what the free plans really give you, and who each one suits. Research date: 2026-10-26.
If you are choosing between Lovable, Bolt.new and v0 by Vercel, the short answer is: they overlap, but they are built for different people. Every price below was copied from the official pricing pages and docs on 26 October 2026. Prices are in US dollars and exclude VAT. We do not invent benchmarks, and we have not run a paid head-to-head test.
The quick verdict
- Non-coder or founder who wants a working app with logins and a database: start with Lovable.
- Want to prototype fast and pay for raw AI usage (tokens): try Bolt.new.
- Developer working in React/Next.js who wants clean code in GitHub and Vercel hosting: use v0.

How each one charges you (this matters more than the sticker price)
- Lovable uses credits. One balance pays for building, chatting, hosting your app on Lovable Cloud and any AI features inside your app. Small edits are cheap: Lovable’s own examples put “make the button gray” at 0.5 credits and “add authentication” at 1.2 credits, and Plan mode messages cost 1 credit. Unused monthly credits roll over but expire two months after they are issued.
- Bolt uses tokens. Bolt says most token usage comes from syncing your project’s files to the AI, so the bigger your project gets, the more each message costs. Pro tokens roll over.
- v0 uses dollar credits. Each plan includes credits in dollars, spent at per-model token rates. The cheapest model, v0 Mini, is $0.20 per million input tokens and $1.20 per million output; v0 Max is $5 and $25. Heavier models burn through the $30 faster.

Lovable: best for shipping a complete app without coding
Lovable is built for people who want to describe an app and end up with something real: pages, logins, a database and hosting in one place. Its built-in backend (Lovable Cloud) covers the database, file storage and server code, and Git sync to GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket works on every plan, including Free. You own the code you create.
Watch out for: on the Free plan you cannot edit or download the code, or use a custom domain. Hosting is covered by a monthly grant for small apps, but busy apps draw on your credits.
Bolt.new: best for fast prototypes and token-based plans
Bolt.new runs the whole build in your browser, with hosting and databases included even on Free. The free plan is generous for trying ideas (1M tokens a month), and Pro adds custom domains, newer models and MCP connectors. You can pick your database provider on Pro.
Watch out for: token costs grow with project size, and the free plan has a 300K daily cap and Bolt branding on published sites.
v0: best for developers in the React / Next.js and Vercel world
v0 is Vercel’s agent for designing and building web apps. Every plan, including Free, can sync to GitHub and deploy to Vercel, and Design Mode lets you tweak the look visually. It is the natural pick if you already use Next.js, or want to take the code into Cursor or Claude Code later.
Watch out for: the free plan stops at 7 messages a day, Plus is priced per user, and hosting is on Vercel (a v0 plan is separate from any Vercel hosting plan).
Our honest recommendation
- Never built software before? Pick Lovable. It hides the most complexity and bundles backend and hosting. Start free, and move to Pro ($25/mo) once you need a custom domain or want to edit the code.
- Testing lots of quick ideas? Pick Bolt.new. The free token allowance goes further for small throwaway projects.
- Comfortable with code and on Next.js? Pick v0, then take the repo into your editor.
- Before you launch anything built with any of these, run through our security checklist (exposed keys and open database rules are the common mistakes).
